Professional Journey: Jonathan has led a distinguished career in the RAF. He has been involved in Op Herrick, Telic and many other operations, exercises and service including disaster relief, aeromed and repatriation. After promotion Jonathan was selected as an instructor and took on a variety of leadership and management roles including head of training and development for championing innovation across Defence. Jonathan has been coaching and mentoring for most of his career in the military and has developed and led coaching programmes across the Defence sector. He now runs multiple businesses, teaches and trains other Coaches and Mentors, operates as a sought after Coaching, Training and L&D consultant, and maintains a select number of clients as an Executive and Leadership Coach. He is a Human Factors and Human Performance facilitator, supervisor and manager, and creator of Defence Innovation Coaching. Jonathan has worked as a Consultant and Coach for some of the most esteemed and well known training and coaching providers in the United Kingdom such as Capita, The TCM Group, and MindGym. He has Coached at the highest levels of UK Government, Royal Air Force (RAF), Ministry of Defence (MOD), National Health Service (NHS) as well as with Start Ups, Innovation teams, C-level Executives and Senior Leaders throughout industry, helping them to achieve exceptional results.
A Personal Note: Jonathan is a father, self-development enthusiast and self-professed Biohacker. He loves anything to do with growth and learning and get’s his greatest buzz from sharing all the amazing things he learns with others to help them better their lives, careers and businesses. Jonathan likes to keep fit, read, travel, go on adventures, play sport, have good conversations and help people connect with their best selves and potential. He’s also partial to a nice IPA or a glass of Pinot Noir.

Utilising his vast experience in coaching, coach training, leadership and innovation, and employing a coaching style backed by psychological and neuroscience principles, he will help you to strive towards reaching whatever targets you desire. Keen to drive professional coaching standards, Steven has undertaken numerous coaching qualifications, including Professional Executive Coaching (PCEC) from the prestigious Henley Business School and Level 5 and 6 Professional Coaching and Coach Supervision with the Chartered Management Institute. He has also returned to Henley Business School, where he is studying towards an MSc in Coaching & Behavioural Change. Steven has utilised this knowledge and experience to develop EEC coaching methodologies and core values, ones backed by research and proven to achieve lasting positive results.
Professional Journey: For almost 20 years, Steven has enjoyed an impeccable and exemplary career in the Royal Air Force (RAF). Having deployed on numerous Operational detachments, including Herrick, Telic, Ellamy, and Shader, for 216, 30 and 47 Squadron’s, as well as disaster relief and in support of UK Counter Terrorism and Special Forces, as a Loadmaster on the C-130J Hercules aircraft. In 2021, his leadership, management and innovation prowess was recognised with a commendation in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List. Within a Central Flying School (CFS) role, he was at the forefront of driving and ensuring the continued excellence of training standards for future cadres of Pilot and Aircrew Instructors, as well as being instrumental in re-establishing Aircrew Performance Coaching within the RAF. As a leader, Steven has been coaching and mentoring for most of his career in the military and has designed, managed and led coaching programmes across the Defence sector, as a qualified and accredited Chartered Management Institute Instructor and Quality Manager. He continues to manage teaching programmes for coaching and mentoring and to date has qualified over 200 coaches and mentors, as well as operating as a sought after coach and coach supervisor. In his coaching practise, Steven has helped individuals at the highest levels of the RAF and MOD, SME business owners, start-ups, innovation teams, and senior leaders, realise potential and achieve tangible results.
A Personal Note: Away from coaching and business endeavours, Steven’s passions are family, fitness and football! He finds true contentment walking in the beautiful Cotswold countryside with his wife Kayt, their two lively young children, and their even livelier Cocker Spaniel puppy Tilly. He is a firm believer in the power of exercise for positive mental health, having completed full distance IronMan triathlon events and more recently pushing himself to the limits on a solo, unsupported cycle challenge from John O Groats to Land’s End – The 900-mile journey taking just 6 days. This resilience, mental fortitude and positive outlook is regularly tested while at the County Ground, watching Swindon Town compete in EFL League 2!

In addition, for clients who wish to understand behaviour at greater depths, Steven is also able to offer neuroscience and psychology insights as well as signpost research, further reading and personal development opportunities.

A Word from our Founders
Our Origins
We, Steven Stubberfield and Jonathan Owen-Williams, partnered to create Elite Executive Coaching after distinguished careers in the Royal Air Force (RAF). We amassed over 35 years combined leadership service as Aircrew within the RAF, with over 10,000 flying hrs on the C-130J Hercules and C-17 Globemaster Aircraft, undertaking multiple worldwide operational and humanitarian detachments and leading teams in multi-national flying exercises. Post flying duties, we were responsible for the design and delivery of RAF and Army Aircrew Instructor Training and Development, liaising with multiple stakeholders and senior leaders throughout Defence, to ensure a robust training pipeline for future Aviation Instructors. The coaching journey began whilst utilising coaching techniques and principles as experienced Aircrew Instructors and witnessing the benefits this brought to the individuals and the front-line operational flying squadrons. A decade, numerous coaching qualifications, hundreds of formal coaching hours, and extensive innovation and course design experience later, this journey continues with the creation of EEC. The EEC team have accumulated a vast portfolio of coaching experience, from fast-jet pilots, senior aircraft engineering officers, squadron executives through to MOD senior leadership, NHS leaders, Meta, Deloitte, FCO, start-ups, and small business owners.
